Fix Skipped Stitches Fast (3-Step Flow)
When your gun's skipping, use this order: tension → pile height → yarn match. 90% of issues clear here.
1) Tension (the #1 culprit)
- Re-tension backing: top→bottom→left→right (see our frame setup guide)
- Confirm gripper strips are biting evenly
- Test line: 3–5 cm; loops should sit uniform
- Check your fabric tension test for proper setup
2) Pile Height
Drop pile height by 1–2 mm and re-test. Over-ambitious height loses loops. Check the recommended pile height ranges for your gun type.
3) Yarn ↔ Needle Match
Use 3–4 ply/worsted for standard needles, or double-strand finer yarn. See the matching cheatsheet.
