Finishing: Glue, Backing, Trim — The Clean Routine

A tidy, repeatable workflow for durable results. Keep it simple and consistent.

1) Seal the Tufts

• Shake/roll adhesive to mix—don't whip bubbles.
• Spread evenly with a spatula/brush; avoid flooding edges.
• Dry on a flat surface; check manufacturer time.

2) Apply Backing

• Cut backing cloth slightly larger than the rug.
• Use contact adhesive or latex; smooth from center outward.
• Weight lightly to bond; avoid shifting.
• Ensure your backing fabric choice is compatible with your adhesive.

3) Trim & Clean Up

• Electric trimmer or sharp shears for high spots.
• Lint roller + vacuum (gentle) to finish.
• Edge tidy: optional binding or paint for clean lines.
